At this time, only the videos provided by us will work with the Back Yard Preview.
Can I use The Back Yard Preview USB to charge my Scanner?
No. Please use the charger provided with your scanner.
My Back Yard Preview is plugged in but no videos are playing.
Check that your HDMI cable is plugged into the BYP device and your TV.
Check that your TV is on and set to the correct HDMI source.
Turn off the BYP device by pressing and holding the power button located on the front of the device until the red power LED turns off.
Turn the BYP device back on by pressing the power button on the front of the device.
Can the Scanner scan items automatically?
Yes. Please see the directions for setting up your scanner to scan items automatically.
Videos are not playing after scanning the Barcode?
Check the Back Yard Preview device and confirm your scanners dongle is connected.
If the scanner dongle is not plugged in, first turn off your Back Yard Preview device and insert the scanner dongle.
Turn the Back Yard Preview device on and wait for videos to start playing.
Scan a barcode with the Scanner to see if the video plays on screen.
If you have multiple Back Yard Preview devices, make sure the scanner is near the correct dongle. There is only one scanner per each dongle.
If you’ve lost your dongle, you will need to purchase a new scanner.
How do I add videos to the playlist?
To open the Manage Playlist page, scan the “Manage Playlist” barcode.
Scan the product barcode for the item you want to add to your playlist. The item’s video file will appear in the Selected Videos list.
Repeat step 2 for as many products as you’d like.
Once you are satisfied with your playlist, scan the “Save Playlist” barcode. This will save your playlist, and your device will return to the Video Player page.
Delete your current playlist by scanning the “Delete Playlist” barcode. The Manage Playlist page will open, and your playlist will be deleted after 10 seconds.
If you change your mind and want to keep your playlist, scan the “Video Player” barcode to cancel the deletion operation.
Once your playlist has been deleted, reopen the Manage Playlist page by scanning the “Manage Playlist” barcode.
Scan the product barcode for the item you want to add to your playlist. The item’s video file will appear in the Selected Videos list.
Repeat step 2 for as many products as you’d like.
Once you are satisfied with your playlist, scan the “Save Playlist” barcode. This will save your playlist, and your device will return to the Video Player page.
Make sure that your BYP device is connected to a Wi-Fi network by following the instructions provided here.
After connecting your BYP device to a Wi-Fi network, scan the “Update from Network” barcode.
The System Update page will open, and your BYP device will begin downloading the latest BYP release and videos automatically. Keep in mind that this process may take some time to complete.
Once the on-screen status indicates that the process is complete, scan the “Restart Device” barcode to restart the device and complete the installation.
How to set up the Back Yard Preview Kit?
Before powering on the BYP device, please confirm the following:
The Scanner Dongle is plugged into any USB port on the BYP device.
The micro SD card has been inserted into the front of the device.
The HDMI cable is plugged into both the BYP device and a TV.
The TV is turned on and the correct HDMI input has been selected.
Now simply power on the BYP device. Your videos should begin playing shortly.
